Intercooperació

Rse.Coop

RSE.COOP is the first specific methodology and tool of its kind in Spain that allows cooperatives, social economy companies and organizations to implement and value CSR (RSE, in catalan) in an integral way in their internal and external management.

The GRI, the SME Key, the EU Green Book, the SA 8000 and the UN human rights standards for companies serve as the reference framework for developing RSE.COOP, born in 2004. It has the following goals:

  • To promote the values of social responsibility in the companies of the cooperative economy of Catalonia.
  • To reinforce the cooperative values and turn this model into a paradigm of responsible business.
  • Improve market competitiveness.
  • Contribute, through the cooperative economy, to sustainable development.

To attain these goals, the RSE.COOP methodology and tool define:

  • A letter of 30 economic, social and environmental commitments.
  • Qualitative and quantitative indicators to measure the levels of fulfilment of each commitment.
  • Criteria for assessing the level of commitment depending on the type of organization.

At the same time, the phases that make up the implementation of RSE.COOP have been described to facilitate the entire process that companies must follow to become socially responsible. These are: diagnosis, improvement plan and validation. These phases, although they have an initial starting point through diagnosis and a final arrival point with validation, require a feedback process in which the final validation always represents the starting point for the preparation of a new diagnosis, a new and better plan and, consequently, a new validation. Each process culminates in obtaining a sustainability report.

It is therefore a retroactive process which guarantees that the diagnosis, the starting point for the design of the improvements to be applied, identifies the real state of the company’s CSR.

Diagnosis

Determines which areas of social responsibility the cooperative is most immersed in and in which it needs to focus more on.

Improvement plan

To strengthen the company’s weaker CSR areas and, on the other hand, to improve the more developed areas.
