Next Generation

We help Catalan cooperative projects access European Next Generation funds. We set up the Next Generation Projects Technical Office to inform about calls and support cooperatives presenting their projects and applying for grants that are part of the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

The Next Generation Projects Technical Office is made up of three components:

  1. Information and dissemination: sending a newsletter that collect the calls published and a summary sheet of each grant with a link to the corresponding regulations.
  2. Elegibility analysis and roadmap: advice on the eligibility of these projects within the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
  3. Presentation ad monitoring of projects until the call resolution: support for cooperatives with methodology for preparing project documentation.

After months working closely with CEPES (Spanish Social Economy Apex) to collect and centralize projects that could qualify for European funding, the call for a Social Economy PERTE, led by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy Ministerio de Trabajo y Economía Social was confirmed.

Presentation of the PERTE of the Social Economy and Carework

On Friday 27th May, the Spanish government presented the Social Economy Strategic project for Recovery and Economic Transformation (Social Economy and Carework PERTE), a public-private partnership instrument that aim to promote strategic projects and thus create economic growth, employment and strengthen the competetiveness of the Spanish economy.

The Social Economy and Carework PERTE seeks to set up an integrated response to challenges related to the effects of the pandemic and other unresolved issues from previous crises. It has two general objectives and one strategic objective.

Objective 1) Boosting the Spanish Social Economy and its transformative potential

Objective 2) Developing advanced and accessible care services focused on people, via the Social Economy.

Strategic objective: to set up a cutting-edge hub, a Social Economy point of reference at European level. It will promote an alternative ecosystem specialized in building a fair, equitable and sustainable “new economy”, based on “economic democracy” and on a digital and environmental transformation, so that the Social Economy plays an increasingly prominent role in the GDP.

The Social Economy and Carework PERTE has a budget of more than 800 million euros. The projects will be progressively implemented until 2026 and the incorporation of additional private financing for responsible and sustainable investments will be encouraged.

The Social Economy is characterized by its dynamism and commitment to people and the territory where it operates. In addition, the Social Economy has shown great resilience in times of crisis not only by maintaining employment, but by generating new decent and quality jobs.
