Cooperativism Summer University

The UESCOOP is a space comprised of all the transformative agents of Catalan cooperativism – the academic and professional world, policymakers and the associations and companies of the cooperative movement -, an open university with active participation of all the agents that shape socioeconomic changes.

El juliol del 2024 celebrarem la segona edició de la Universitat d’Estiu del Cooperativisme. Aquesta edició estarà adreçada als i les estudiants universitàries d’arran del territori. La proposta formativa d’enguany se centrarà en sis eixos temàtics, a saber:

Dimensions del cooperativisme: econòmica i jurídica i social
Sobiranies tecnològiques
Comunitats energètiques
Creixement de les cooperatives
Desenvolupament comunitari i territorial
Política pública de desenvolupament

Les formacions seran en format en línia els dies 3 i 5 de juliol, mentre que el dia 4 de juliol l’alumnat haurà d’assistir al Congrés del Cooperativisme de Catalunya, que tindrà lloc al Palau de Congressos de Barcelona i que complementarà la formació de la UESCOOP mitjançant sessions d’aprofundiment en diferents trets diferencials del model cooperativista.

Hi haurà dues tipologies de sessions: les de formació inicial, destinades a persones no expertes en l’àmbit del cooperativisme, i les sessions d’aprofundiment, dirigides a un públic familiaritzat amb el cooperativisme, o que bé va assistir a la primera edició de la UESCOOP.

The 1st edition of UESCOOP

The first edition of the Cooperativism Summer University had 500 participants and thirty activities

Date: 5th, 6th and 7th July 2023
Venue: Faculty of Philology and History, University of Barcelona

Over the course of three days, more than 500 participants reflected on the current state of the cooperative movement and its role in future challenges in the environmental, social and economic spheres. At the closing event of the UESCOOP, the 7th edition of the CoopCat Awards was also held. These awards highlight the best cooperative practices of the year.

The UESCOOP has brought together representatives of all the transformative agents of cooperativism: the academic and professional world, policymakers and the entities and companies of the co-operative movement. Nearly a hundred speakers shared their experience from their field of expertise in the sessions, dialogues and debates. In its first edition, the UESCOOP had a local but also an international focus, with participants from France, Scotland, Italy, Denmark and Quebec. In addition, we highlight the presence of fifty university students who actively participated in the sessions and immersed themselves in the world of cooperatives for the first time.

The program of the first edition of the UESCOOP hosted around thirty activities in various formats: 22 sessions, 4 visits to cooperative projects in Barcelona, Maresme and Baix Llobregat, 5 complementary sessions and a space for Cooperation among Cooperatives.

Academic council

The Academic Council of the Summer University of Cooperativism is made up of representatives of the General Directorate of Social and Solidarity Economy of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the five federations of cooperatives in Catalonia, the universities of Lleida, Girona, Rovira and Virgili, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the University of Barcelona, the Illustrious Bar Association of Barcelona, the Roca i Galès Foundation, and the Cooperative Hub Network.
